JP and I slept in this fine Saturday morning. The kids got up and watched some Nature Cat. By the time JP and I came down they had watched several hours of tv! But as this is the only day they really do that I'm not to worried about it!
JP and I walked Pip this morning and it was a bit chilly but going to be a nice day, we could already tell! When we got home the kids had turned off the tv and went upstairs to play on the computer - typetastic which teaches kids to type. Again, I'll allow it. I had to run to Needham at this point to pick up our produce box. The kids and JP had breakfast and were playing with the Barbies when I got home. I then had breakfast and then started my plan for the day. JP thought he could take the kids on a hike while I got going on the gardening that I needed to do. I had to transplant a bush that was in the way of one of the irrigation spickets. So I did that while the kids and JP hiked at Fiddlehead Forrest aka Noon Hill.
I moved a grass plant from by the house to by the circle, I planted the plant that David and Alex got me for 'get well soon' as well as a hydrangea that JP got me for my birthday. Hopefully all these plants will survive their transplant and new spot in the backyard. I then trimmed the roses and the blackberry and raspberry bushes. I also transplanted our seedlings into a larger bin in the cold frame and found a toad in the seedlings. The kids had a blast hiking with JP. They saw lots of fiddle heads - which are ferns that have not fully bloomed. They took the dog and did a 'super long hike' according to Naomi. The brought snacks so they could have a little picnic at the lookout at the peak.
By the time they got home, I was knee deep in making a lasagna from scratch. I made ricotta from the milk we got from Crescent Ridge, homemade lasagna noodles with the new noodle attachment on the kitchen aide! It came out pretty good. I used a pan that was a bit too big so the stuffing was a bit thin. The kids played in the circle with the twins once they got home making more potions and keeping their dragon egg warm.
After dinner we cleared the deck off as we're having a company come and clean the siding and deck tomorrow morning. And then we took the dog for a walk. The kids biked while we walked, as usual! Then we wrangled them up to bed!
Tonight's movie is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire!
