I walked Pip in snow flurries and 38 degrees! It was cold, we both walked very quickly. He did his business and then bolted back to the house. No nonchalant sniffing of random stuff today! We had leftover donuts and leftover sausage and potatoes with eggs for breakfast. I frothed some milk to go with our coffee and voilà ! Breakfast.
After breakfast the girls went and played in the dollhouse for quite a while. JP had to do some work and I headed out to Needham to pick up our produce box. I wanted to swing by the high school again to pick up my desktop computer. JP suggested I bring that home to do all the graduation design work that I'm going to be starting next week. Good idea JP! But the building was locked. Hopefully this week I'll be able to grab it. I popped into Wills Hardware and found that illusive teak oil. Now I can finish up those chairs and then do the other deck furniture!
When I got home Naomi helped JP and I wash the fruit and veggies which is always a big deal and chore. But if it keeps us healthy, it is totally worth it! Once that task was complete, JP headed to the garage to work on the pergola brackets and Naomi and I got to work on an art assignment that the whole art department is giving to every student. Since we will not have an art show this year, we're all going to do an assignment called "Quaranthings Portraits." There is an art teacher facebook group and many amazing assignments and suggestions and help has been shared within this group for teaching art remotely. This assignment came from a teacher on this page. She took this idea from Gregg Segal's work 'Daily Bread' & '7 Days of Garbage.' The students have to find 20 things that have helped them through this time of remote learning and arrange them around them on the ground or a blanket and take a picture. This will be shared on a website called Padlet where anyone can post their work and we can easily see everyone's work.
So Naomi and I got to work. We both collected 20 objects in a laundry basket and got a blanket and put it in the living room. We thought this was a good space as it was big enough and had good natural light plus good lighting from above with the spider chandelier if the sun was too bright or not bright enough. I went first as Naomi became distracted with what Juliet was doing - coloring, and wanted to do that. This took me a while. I set up my stuff on a blanket then realized it was too small. So I took it all apart and then got a bigger blanket and then put all the stuff out again. After that I got a step ladder for the person to stand on that was taking the picture. I called Naomi over and we did a bunch of pictures. But she was ultimately too short and we needed JP to come in and take the photo. After many different shots, Naomi wanted to do it. So I cleaned up my stuff and she laid her stuff out. I then rearranged her stuff to be more aesthetically pleasing and we took a bunch of shots. Now that we knew how to so it it went a bit quicker!
After the photoshoot we made lunch and had a fun video game day chat with Uncle Dave and Nana and Baba. Naomi loved playing the games!! Juliet was a bit young but had fun seeing everyone on the video call. After the games the kids bundled up and went outside and rode their bikes! It was so cold!! When they came in the decided to take a warm bath to warm up... plus its been a while for them too and they really needed it! While they were in the tub JP and I took a light nap and the next thing we knew it was 8pm! Yikes! We got them out and in PJ's and went down and ate dinner! Good thing chili was in the crockpot! We had dinner and the kids wanted to do another sleepover in the family room with sleeping bags. So they brushed and got all their stuffies and sleeping bags and set up in the family room. By the time I kissed them goodnight it was after 9pm. Its almost 10 as I write this and I can still hear them chatting away. Hopefully they'll sleep in and let us sleep in tomorrow too!!
