Today the girls woke up before us (this is not unusual, in fact, I'm not sure why I bother saying this, because they ALWAYS wake up before us!) Naomi got up, got dressed and fired up the desktop computer in the office and began to work on her work for the day. Juliet woke up and went downstairs and started watching videos on the ipad and made herself breakfast - dry cereal.

Naomi came in at one point around 7am because she was having trouble with the formatting of her typing. So I got up and was up for the day. I thought I would exercise so I got into exercise clothes and headed downstairs to get breakfast for the kids. I walked Pip and then made waffles for the girls. They each ate 4 or more and then we headed outside as the weather was beautiful. I had my breakfast outside and then had my department meeting. As I logged into the meeting the landscapers showed up and proceeded to make all kinds of noise! But they did make our flower beds beautiful! They weeded and mulched and cut nice edges on all of our trees and beds. They even did the back even though that was not what we had contracted them to do. I asked them about cutting a garden for us but this required the boss to come out and give us a quote, so we'll see what he says!
After my meeting the girls and I went around the yard collecting textures. We were going to make collagraph plates and needed to collect items to glue on to it. So we went around collecting grass, twigs, leaves, pine needles etc. After we did this we set up a table outside to put our plates together. The girls them glued all the stuff we collected on to cardboard. This needed to dry before the next step so after this we had lunch and then had softball practice which ended up being what we did all afternoon. Naomi and Juliet took turns hitting and shagging balls. At one point when we were practicing there was a low flying helicopter that kept circling back around the neighborhood. It turns out he was spraying for mosquitos in the woods around our house! After this excitement we went back to practicing hitting. After a while Dad came out and shagged some balls too!
I went inside as it was getting cold and time for me to make dinner. We were having tacos so I had to make the soft shells form scratch which takes a bit, but it is SO worth it! Dinner was delicious. Soft tacos and tequila or the adults and lemonade for the kids. With a finale of country music and dancing before bed.
