Saturday. JP and I slept in and then walked Pip on a nice lazy morning walk before making breakfast. I actually skipped breakfast and headed to Needham to pick up our produce box and coffee. The kids watched TV and then headed outside to play with their neighborhood friends.
By the time I got back from Needham it was 1:00. I washed all the produce - not sure if we still need to wash everything anymore and let it 'sit' before touching it. But we did anyway. We made lunch and then JP mowed the lawn so I could sit outside with the chicks and let them free range a bit. After he finished mowing he came and sat in the shade with me. The kids were off in the neighborhood somewhere. We texted Marti to swing by if she was around and she showed up a little later with Koko and Janelle. We had a nice visit with them, socially distanced, sitting out in the shade of the yard watching the chicks and Pip. The girls came by and said hi. Juliet went and got the stuffies and played with Grammy a bit. Janelle got a push on the new swing. But we mostly just hung out and chatted. After a while we all went for a walk over to the neighbor's farm where Naomi and two neighborhood friends were taking care of their chickens while they were away at their summer house for the weekend.
When we got back from the walk it was after 6. Grammy and the gang packed up and headed home. JP and I went in and made breakfast for dinner. They ate dinner on the deck while I had a zoom call with my high school class to talk about race and the experience of the black students that were in the METCO program. There were about 20 people there. It was great to see everyone and also strange. The conversation was really great, authentic and honest. I went to speak and my microphone wasn't working. Ugh. So I ended up typing my thoughts. Oh well... technology right?
The kids went to bed nicely for JP and he came down to do some work. And that's pretty much how the day went! The kids only have 3 more days of school. Summer is upon us! It's a bit weird because the end of year hype isn't there so much. But I'm ready to be done teaching for a bit and the kids are ready to be done with school.
