Quarantine Day 79 & 80

Day 79: Saturday the kids got up and watched a bunch of Scooby Do cartoons for a few hours before JP and I rolled downstairs. We got up and decided to go to Needham as a big ole group to get our produce box and a few things from Nana and Baba's house. On the way we stopped at Country Kitchen and picked up some breakfast!Bagel sandwiches and a sweet breakfast treat and of course coffee! The pick up for produce is easy, drive up, they load it into the trunk, drive off. Then we headed over to Nana's and as they are on the cape for a while, we borrowed their mini fridge. We're going to use it for extra stuff from Crescent Ridge that we want to let sit and 'decontaminate' yet stay cool, like extra eggs, milk, etc. While JP and I were getting the fridge, the girls were looking through the garage and house for any toys they wanted to bring back to our house. They opted for 2 razor scooters and a skateboard. I found a fun toy too, Baba's bull horn! And we took a pack n play (yes for babies) to use for the chickens until we get our coop built! Everyone used the bathroom, then we headed home!

Once home we sat an relaxed in the sun with the chicks on the grass until our lawn treatment service pulled up and put down herbicide. So we brought the chicks to the deck and sat there while they put down the weed killer. The kids played with the neighborhood kids on bikes most of the day. Around 5 JP put on the sprinklers to soak in the weed killer and the kids ran through the sprinklers as it was SO hot out. We made sure to wash their feet real good to get any residual chemicals off of them. After everyone was cold from the water we went inside and made dinner. We ate outside on the deck, it was cooling off and nice in the shade. We then walked Pip and the girls went up to bed. They were going to have a sleepover but the got into an argument and Naomi moved out of Juliet's room. I then took a bath to relax and get clean while JP went to bed. After my bath I checked in on the girls and I guess they worked it out because Juliet was sleeping in Naomi's room with Naomi.

Day 80: Sunday the kids again got up and watched a bunch of tv while we slept in. (Are you sensing a trend/routine here?!) When we got up we walked Pip and made a big breakfast. We had eggs and waffles! (Remember I made a double batch the other night?!) Then we headed off to Home Depot to get some new trees. Our two cherry trees we planted last year died because the deer ate the leaves and tips of branches off of them. So this year JP put up fencing to stop the deer form doing that! The apple tree we planted last season is doing really well now due to this. Lots of leaves this year! We bought 4 blueberry bushes, 2 pear trees (of different variety because they need that for pollination & fruit production), 2 patio tubs of strawberry plants, & 1 self pollinating peach tree plus a few other odds and ends like soil, more fencing and rope.

The rest of the day was spent digging holes! JP and I spent from 1:30-5:00 digging holes and planting all the plants we got! I'm glad it was much cooler today to do this, but it was still hot and sweaty work! We even brought the chicks outside in the pack n play to enjoy the day in the fresh air and shade while we worked. Pip too was out with us in the shade with the chicks. The girls played with the neighborhood kids (even though they said they would help us dig holes) on their bikes all afternoon. They all had walkie talkies and were riding around talking to each other. Turns out they work form our house to the neighbors 4 houses away!

JP and I were so tired, we ordered pizza and subs for dinner. By the time we showered and ordered dinner and picked it up it was 7:30. So after dinner (8:15) we told the kids they had to go brush and they could read on their own in bed as JP and I had work we needed to do for tomorrow. I had to prepare my lessons for the week and post them and JP had to fix something on the network that was messed up all weekend! The kids were pretty good about it. They were silly when brushing but then went and read on their own and put themselves to sleep! And now it is my turn to go to sleep!

Quarantine Day 24: Technology, Fixing Old Things, Long Walks, Family Game Night

Charles River by our old house! Sunday. This morning the kids got up before us and headed downstairs to watch some Batman cartoon episodes from the 90s that JP got for them. Naomi (& Juliet sort of) has been reading the three Batman comics that we got from Park Street Books that have Spanish on the sides and in some of the frames. One of the great things about technology, or at least the technology in our house, is that we can cast stuff from our phone to the TV in the family room and our bedroom. So while JP and I were just getting up and dressed, he cast the Sunday school stream from the temple. This of course interrupted the Batman cartoon. I peaked my head out the bedroom door and heard..."but we were watching Batman!" The Sunday school songs and chat from the Rabbi's today was about Passover as it is this coming Wednesday evening. After the morning service 45 minutes later there was a zoom session with the Rabbi's to have more of a conversation and so...

Quarantine Day 69: meetings, biking, digging for fossils

Today was a typical quarantine day. We got up. Walked Pip. Made breakfast. And then JP and I got to working while the kids played outside. It was a gorgeous day. The kids went on a fossil expedition digging up rocks in my front flower bed. They apparently promised to leave the flowerbeds as they found them. But that’s not what happened. Then they played in the hose as it was hot out! The rest of the afternoon was spent playing with the kids in the neighborhood. In the evening we walked Pip and went over to the neighbors that was hatching Chickens. He’s going to let us foster a few of them for the next few weeks. Hopefully this will move us forward with us getting our own chickens! So after the chick visit we went out and got a few things to raise them. A heat lamp, a water bottle, sawdust flakes and chick food. Tomorrow we pick up the chicks. Then dinner, books and bed for the kids. And school Committee Meeting for mom.

Quarantine Day 31: More landscaping and Easter Sunday

Signs of spring Easter Sunday. This morning the kids got up at the same time, around 7:30 and they went down and watched some TV and played some video games. I got up and made some breakfast for the gang and then we headed outside. It was almost 60 degrees today. The girls helped me move some of the plants around in our front flower beds. We moved 2 daisy plants, 2 echinacea plants, and 3 day lilies. The side of the house had nothing in the beds there, so we moved 5 plants there. Hopefully the plants make it!!! Then we did a general clean up of the beds. Juliet got a bit bored and went and helped JP dig out weeds for a bit. Then they went and practiced riding bikes. Juliet is a bit timid on her bike with training wheels but she took the bike for a spin around the neighborhood for a bit. Naomi seeing her decided she wanted to ride for a bit too, so she went off and rode her bike around the neighborhood chasing Jules. She's' still learning how to use the gears on her new bike...
