Today Naomi had her class meeting at 9. She woke up at 8:30 and tumbled out of bed just in time for her class. JP and Juliet had been up since about 6 and I came downstairs with Naomi. We did our usual morning walk with Pip and then I had a meeting at 9 as well. After my meeting I did the last step of our homemade bagel recipe I started yesterday. Who knew bagels took so long to make! I made the dough yesterday, thinking we'd have them for breakfast, but they had to sit in the fridge overnight for a step! So They sat out and came to room temp while I was in my meeting, then I boiled them and baked them. Fresh bagels! They were so delicious!
JP finished up work early and went out for his first round of golf of the season. What a great day for it too, sunny and cool! The girls came in from biking and had a bagel, gave it the thumbs up, and then we took a ride to Park Street Books. They were having a $1 book sale on their patio. I gave the kids each a $5 bill and told them they could pick out whatever 5 books they wanted. They picked out way more than 5 books, so we then sat and whittled it down to 5 for each of them. We also picked up 2 new games to play - Outfoxed and Forbidden Sky. Both by our favorite game company GameWright.
When the girls got home we set up a picnic blanket in the circle with their new books, some snacks and the chicks. They sat and read with the neighborhood girls for a while. Naomi sat and read the longest out of the 4 of them. Soon they were all riding bikes and playing again. Naomi brought the chicks back to the house and I helped her clean up the blanket and books. I had a faculty meeting then a quick contract negotiations meeting later in the afternoon. JP swung by BJ's after golf to pick up a few staples we were running out of, mostly snacks, strawberries & blueberries (the kids eat these by the fist full!) and lunch meat. Once he got home we set up our sterilization kitchen routine and cleaned everything down before putting it away. We've been reading that this is not as much of a concern any more as more research is coming out about the way the virus spreads, but better safe than sorry!
We walked Pip and then JP mowed the lawn and I made dinner. While I was making dinner the kids pulled one of the new games out and read the directions and taught themselves how to play. We played several times during and after dinner. Then the kids headed up to bed to read their new books while JP and I both did some work.
