Our last day in China we woke up and headed out to the Emperors Summer Palace. The Emperor & Empresses would go to this palace from April to October. Its located in the north west section of Beijing. The summer palace has a corridor or gallery that is the longest in the world. Beginning from the Yaoyue (Inviting-Moon) Gate and ending with Shizhang Pavilion, the Long Gallery ingeniously links Longevity Hill with Kunming Lake. Seven hundred twenty-eight meters (796.2 yards) in length, it is the longest gallery in Chinese gardens. In 1990 it was rated as the top long gallery of the world. The Emperor built it for his mother because she liked to walk out by the lake and this way he wouldn't have to worry about her when it rained she would be protected by the roof and when it was hot and sunny she would be cooled by the roof and tile floor.
We walked the length of the gallery and then took a boat across the lake and that was it. Our last touristy thing in China. From here we headed to the airport to begin our long journey home.
