This morning we got up, our last day in Xi'an. We had breakfast and headed to the Xi'an history museum. This museum had many objects from the Zhou, Qin, Han, Sui, and Tang Dynasties. They had many pottery pieces, tomb guardians, bronze pieces, and replicas of the terracotta warriors.
After the museum we went to the old city wall and biked along the top. The weather was wonderful and the wall didn't have many tourists so it was easy to ride along the top. The wall is 13.6 kilometers around and 12 meters wide at the top. Hannah was the only one that rode around the whole city wall. The rest of us rode from the South gate to the East gate and then back.
After this we went to look at the Big Wild Goose pagoda and walked around the square. Then headed to the Muslim quarter. Here we went into the Muslim Mosque garden area. The Mosque was set up in 742 AD during the Tang Dynasty. Then we had some free time to roam around the market place. When we were supposed to all meet up around 5:15 and some of us didn't show up. So we spent 20 minutes running around looking for the 3 missing people, and the driver was getting annoyed because he knew we'd have traffic to get to the train station. We finally found everyone and quickly ate dinner and headed towards the train.
Getting to the train was INSANE. First the bus driver dropped us off 3 blocks away. Then we had to fight our way through a crazy line and security check. Once in the train station we found our waiting room and got there as they were letting people board the train. So we again fought our way forward to the gate entrance. As we passed through the gate we saw the 2 flights of stairs. We had to lug our luggage up these stairs. (Everyone had a large suitcase, carry on and backpack) So we struggled up the stairs. Only to walk toward the platform and find we had to go down two flight of stairs. And of course when we got to the platform we had to walk to car 1 and it was ALL the way down the end of the platform. Once we got up to car 1 we had to lift all the luggage up the stairs to the train and down the mini corridor and into the room. By the time we got everything onto the train we were all soaked in sweat and ready to kill someone.
