So this is where the blog turns from cool things I/we did in China to cool things I'm/we're doing back home. So enjoy this first non-China post!
I did it! Today I graduated with my Masters of Education with a concentration in Art. The ceremony was an hour and a half and each graduate lined up and got 'hooded,' had their masters hood or sash draped over them to officially recognize them as a graduate with a masters degree. It was kind of awkward, especially with the weird square hats we were all sporting, hence the funny face I'm making. I think the education department got the best colored hoods though, light blue!!
I began taking classes for this degree in the fall of 2005. I took many classes in printmaking, not because I majored in this or wanted to, but that just happened to be what was offered during the semesters I was able to take classes. I learned a whole lot about a medium I had never experimented with before and it grew on me to the point where I took more and more advanced courses in it to push myself, especially with woodcut. My professors were fantastic and my fellow students and I became fast friends. I hope to continue working with woodcut printmaking as my journey as an artist and teacher has only just begun.

I'm so glad you posted! Love these "official" pics of your graduation and being "hooded." You look happy and beautiful! Parents and family look so proud! You did it!!!! Congratulations!
